Mumbai: On Sunday, Home Minister of Maharashtra Anil Deshmukh informed that the metro internal transfer orders issued by the Mumbai Police Commissioner have been cancelled.
Mumbai Mirror quoted Anil Deshmukh as saying, “The orders issued by Mumbai Commissioner for internal transfers in Mumbai have been revoked.” Deshmukh took to twitter and said, “The internal transfers in Mumbai made by @CPMumbaiPolice have been put on hold by CM @OfficeofUT and my office.”
10 DCPs (Deputy Commissioner of Police) in the region had been transferred by Commissioner Param Bir on Thursday.
Before this, the Home Minister informed on Wednesday about his meeting with the Police administration where they discussed strengthening security systems and disposition at two Taj hotels located in Bandra and Colaba in respect to the bomb threat call received from Karachi.
“Twelve years after India’s worst terror attack on Mumbai, two Taj hotels-Colaba and Bandra have received a terror threat from Karachi. I have had detailed discussions on increasing security arrangements with both Maharashtra DGP and Mumbai Commissioner of Police," Deshmukh stated.
On Tuesday, the Mumbai police beefed up the security arrangements outside two Taj hotels in Mumbai’s Colaba and Bandra and other areas near to it, soon after they received a threat call from Karachi, Mumbai Police said.
The police said that they received the call from Karachi on Monday. During the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, the Taj Hotel in Mumbai was one of the targeted locations for the attack.
The attack came as a major shock to the financial capital of India, as 10 terrorists from the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) entered the city through a sea route from Pakistan and carried out a series of unprecedented bombings and shootings throughout Mumbai. Following the incident, around 300 people were left injured and 166 people lost their lives.
The terrorists targeted venues like Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) railway station, Nariman House Business and residential complex, Cama Hospital, Oberoi-Trident Hotel, Taj Hotel and Tower and Leopold Cafe. The sole survivor among the terrorists, Ajmal Kasab revealed that the attack was planned by the Lashkar-e-Taiba (Let) group of Pakistan.
