

Maharashtra is witnessing a rise in heatstroke-related deaths as extreme temperatures continue to affect several parts of the state. Health officials have also reported an increase in heatstroke cases and have issued a public advisory urging citizens to remain cautious during the ongoing heatwave.
So far, the state has recorded 175 heatstroke cases and six deaths. The highest number of cases has been reported from Nandurbar (22), followed by Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (20), Nashik (19), Amravati (15) and Buldhana (14), along with several other districts reporting isolated cases.

The IMD has issued heatwave alerts across parts of Maharashtra, urging people to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours. Health officials have advised staying hydrated, wearing light cotton clothes, and avoiding outdoor activity between 12 pm and 4 pm. Municipal bodies, including Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, have also issued advisories and activated emergency response systems.
Health authorities warn that continued exposure to high temperatures may further increase the risk of heat-related illnesses . Officials have urged people to avoid outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated and take necessary precautions as temperatures remain high across multiple regions.
Heatstroke is a severe medical condition caused by prolonged exposure to high temperatures, leading to the body overheating and losing its ability to regulate temperature. It is a life-threatening emergency if not treated quickly.
Common symptoms include high body temperature, headache, dizziness, nausea or vomiting, confusion, rapid heartbeat, and in severe cases, loss of consciousness. Immediate cooling and medical attention are essential to prevent serious complications.
