Mumbai: As per an RTI reply, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray along with multiple top leaders of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, owe Rs 24 lakh as due on water tax. The top ministers have not cleared the water tax amount. As per an RTI query filed by an activist, the dues have been pending for more than a year.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, along with several top ministers owe Rs 24,56,469 as pending water tax.

The ministers reside in their in their official bungalows such as Varsha, Ramtek, Shivneri, Royal Stone, Parnakuti, to name a few in the plush of Mumbai. Even though they do not have to pay the bills from their pockets, the Maharashtra government has not completed the payment. Meanwhile, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has also not taken any action against the ministers yet. ‘Varsha’, the bungalow of Chief Minister of Maharashtra is in the defaulters list too.

In a similar case reported in June 2019, former Maharashtra Chief Minister and current opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis and other ministers had not cleared their water bills worth over Rs 7 lakh since 2001.

Now the question is: Would a common man in their place would have lost water supply in that time frame without paying their bills?
