Pune, 3rd August 2026: After an extended rain spell during July, weather conditions across much of Maharashtra are expected to ease from Tuesday, August 4. The intensity of rain is likely to reduce for the next three days, bringing only light, intermittent monsoon showers in several districts.
The districts likely to experience this temporary relief include Khandesh, Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Solapur, the western Vidarbha districts of Amravati, Buldhana, Akola, Wardha, Washim and Yavatmal, along with the entire Marathwada region.
While western and central parts of the state may witness a break in heavy rainfall, Mumbai and the entire Konkan coast are expected to continue receiving light to moderate showers between August 2 and August 6.
Similar weather conditions are likely over eastern Vidarbha, including the districts of Nagpur, Chandrapur, Bhandara, Gondia and Gadchiroli, where rainfall activity is expected to persist during the same period.
The August rainfall forecast suggests that Marathwada, Solapur, and several areas of Vidarbha—including Washim, Yavatmal, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Bhandara, Gondia, and Gadchiroli—are likely to experience higher-than-normal rainfall during the month.
In contrast, Mumbai, the Konkan region, Khandesh, Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, and the western Vidarbha districts of Amravati, Buldhana, Akola and Wardha are expected to record below-normal rainfall compared to their long-term August averages.
The forecast suggests that after the prolonged wet spell witnessed in July, rainfall over many parts of Maharashtra is likely to become less intense in the coming days.
However, residents in Konkan and eastern Vidarbha should continue to expect periodic showers, while the overall August rainfall distribution may vary significantly across different regions of the state.
