Maharashtra: Woman withdraws rape complaint against Dhananjay Munde

The woman told the police that she is taking back the complaint against Dhananjay Munde but did not gave any specific reason.

Mumbai: A woman based in Mumbai who had accused Dhananjay Munde, Social Justice Minister of Maharashtra of rape withdrawn her police complaint on Friday. According to reports, the woman told the police that she is taking back the complaint against the Minister but did not gave any reason.

The woman had approached the police with the complaint against Dhananjay Munde on January 11, accusing him of rape on the pretext of marriage in 2006. The cops had started an inquiry too.

On the other side, Dhananjay Munde, a senior leader of NCP (Nationalist Congress Party) from Beed district denied the rape charges and dubbed them as an attempt to defame him. The 45-year-old, however, had admitted that he was in a relationship with the complainant woman's sister. As the news came to light, the BJP (Bhartiya Janata Party) demanded Munde's resignation from the cabinet. However, the NCP ruled out any action against the Minister till the charges were proved.

Meanwhile, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar stated that it seemed the party's decision to wait for the truth to come out after rape allegations were steamrolled against Munde was right. Talking to mediapersons, Sharad Pawar also alleged that efforts are being made from Delhi to bring down the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra.
