Mumbai: Addressing the state on Sunday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray informed that the Metro 3 car shed will be moved from Aarey forests. The new car shed will be shifted to Kanjurmarg. The works for removing construction materials from the site was already begun which gave a clear signal about the move.
The Chief Minister said that the land in Aarey has been now declared as forest. The area has now been expanded to 800 acres. While maintaining the forest, there will be no injustice to the tribals and locals, said the Chief Minister. He also announced that the government land of Kanjurmarg, which will be a car shed for Metro, will be purchased and not a single rupee will be spent for this place.
A building has been constructed in Aarey forest at a cost of about Rs 100 crore. We will use the building for other purpose, he said. The government has withdrawn all cases against protesters who opposed metro car shed at Aarey.
He said, “We are going to plant trees in the city on 800 acres. I also thank Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Aditya Thackeray, Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat, Minister Sunil Kedar for assistance in the project. We are making the dream project come true.”
Stating about the farm bills, Thackeray said, “"We will not accept farm bills blindly. We are analysing its impression, objections. We are talking with farmers and their organisations. Only after deliberations, we will go ahead with it."
COVID SITUATION IN MAHARASHTRA
Talking about situating of COVID-19 in state said, “People these days are irresponsible in the battle of COVID-19, though the situation is under control, the virus is spreading in rural areas of the state too. People should take more care but people should not venture without ‘black belt’ (face masks).”
He also thanked health officials, Aasha Workers, Anganwadi workers, Police officials for working round the clock in the campaign ‘My Family My Responsibility’.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra's Covid-19 deaths breached the 40,000-mark a day after the state's case tally crossed 1.5 million, health officials said on Saturday. The state witnessed another 308 fatalities and the toll catapulted from 39,732 to 40,040 now. The state recorded another 11,416 new infections - lesser than the peak single-day tally of 24,886 - and the state total zoomed from 15,06,018 to 15,17,434 cases till date.
