In a severe fire accident, on Saturday, a level three fire broke out at Indraprastha Shopping Centre, situated in Borivali West, Mumbai. The mishap was reported at 3:05 am, and at around 6:16 am, the level three fire increased to level four. According to media reports, the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) reached the site and carried out necessary fire-fighting operations. However, so far no casualties have been reported caused by the fire accident. Reportedly, the MFB officials said, firefighters, were successful in containing the fire to the basement. Sources say the shopping complex was a two-storey building.
In an NDTV report, Vijay the security guard of the shopping complex said, "The fire broke out around 2:55 am. The guard informed me and we immediately called the fire department. There are 77 shops inside the complex, all of them deal in mobile phones. Short circuit was the reason for the fire."
The media reports suggest that the ventilation work is underway at the site of the incident. With the help of JCB side grills of the basement are being removed.
In an HT report, the MFB officials said, "There are ten small engine lines in operation in the basement and one small line on the first floor. We are also using exhaust blower for the operation."
Not too long ago, another fire accident was reported from south Mumbai's Nariman Point region. The mishap took place at the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait office. Last month, in another fire accident, at Mumbai's iconic Crawford market, a level two fire broke out, although no causalities were reported.
