Mumbai power cut: Blackout in many areas due to grid failure; local trains affected

Multiple areas in Mumbai faced power outage on Monday

Mumbai: Multiple areas in Mumbai faced power outage on Monday. Mumbaikars took to Twitter to mention about the power cut.

Meanwhile, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BSET) Electricity, meanwhile, on their social media handle said the electric supply is interrupted due to TATAs incoming electric supply failure. BEST Electricity tweeted, “The electric supply is inttruptted due to TATAs incoming electric supply faiure. Inconveniences is regretted.”

Juhu, Andheri, Mira Road, Navi Mumbai, Thane and Panvel were among the areas that were largely hit.

According to sources, Western Railway local trains shut between Churchgate to Vasai station after Mumbai Metropolitian Region (MMR) witnessed a power cut on Monday morning amid to the grid failure in the city. Not only the Western Railway, services were also suspended on the Central Railway.

The resotration work has already begin and will be done in phases, says Mumbai Municipal Commissioner IS Chahal. Brihanmumbai Mumbai Corporation (BMC) also appealed Mumbaikars to call on 022-22694727, 022-226947725 and 022-22704403 in case of emergencies. Also, exams have been postponed and rescheduled at many colleges in Mumbai.
