Ahead of New Year' eve and keeping the intensity of new COVID-19 strain in mind, government of Maharashtra on Monday declared night curfew in municipal corporation limits. The night curfew will remain in place till January 5 in the backdrop of a new COVID-19 strain making rounds in the United Kingdom.

The night curfew will remain operational from 11 pm to 6 am every day beginning from Tuesday.

Due to fears of a new infectious strain of Covid-19 in UK, the state government also imposed a 14-day institutional quarantine for those arriving from Europe, news agency PTI quoted an official as saying.
