No decision yet on reopening of colleges in Maharashtra; students remain worried

Senior colleges are shut since the lockdown was imposed amid the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

Pune: Uday Samant, State Minister for Higher and Technical Education on Sunday said that decision on reopening of colleges will be taken 'soon'.

Samant who was in Pune on Sunday said, "The question is been raised multiple times. The decision on reopening will be taken once the varsities are been informed. The decision has to be taken after reviewing the COVID situation in the state."

“We are currently in the process of consultation and a final decision would be taken soon,” he added.

Samant was present at event organised by Samvad Pune at Balgandharva Rangmandir on Sunday. He also added that exams will be conducted online till the cases of COVID doesn't get completely depleted.

Senior colleges are shut since the lockdown was imposed amid the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

Due to no final date of reopening of colleges many students are worried and expressing anger. One of the student from engineering college said, "It's been eight months now. Every week we come to know that the colleges will be reopened soon but this 'soon' has no credibility. We can learn theories online but what about practicals."
