Pune, 6th October 2025: The Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan (SNSPA) initiative significantly influenced the Pune Division by screening more than 934,000 women over a two-week period from September 17 to October 2. This campaign spanned the districts of Pune, Satara, and Solapur, establishing 15,508 health camps, including 1,147 specialized camps focused on cataracts, tuberculosis, and maternal health.

The campaign's success was significantly enhanced by robust community involvement and political backing, with 12 Members of Legislative Assembly and Members of Parliament actively participating, underscoring the dedication of local leaders to public health.

The campaign surpassed expectations in several aspects. A total of 16,090 cataract surgeries were performed, with Pune district remarkably achieving 123.69% of its target.

Nearly 900,000 Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) screenings were conducted, 11,899 blood units were collected, and 146,571 TB screenings were completed, along with 3,384 Nikshay Mitra registrations for TB patients. Furthermore, 71,715 PMJAY health insurance cards were issued, broadening access to essential healthcare services.

The focus on maternal and child health continued, resulting in 58,418 antenatal check-ups and menstrual hygiene counselling sessions. Early identification of severe conditions was life-saving, with 21 children diagnosed with heart issues needing surgical intervention.

Dr. Bhagwan Pawar, the Deputy Director of Health Services for the Pune Division, attributed the campaign's success to meticulous planning, real-time oversight, daily video meetings, and staff training, which facilitated seamless execution throughout all districts.
