People want employment generation to continue

Sakal Media Group has been conducting opinion polls in the State. It not only conducts them during elections but also at various other stages to gauge the public mood. The State government led by Devendra Fadnavis is completing three years on October 31. Sakal Media Group conducted a survey to mark the milestone. Its findings:

The Fadnavis government has reached an important milestone. The people in the State want to see what promises have been fulfilled. They expect that employment generation will continue while infrastructure facilities will be strengthened on priority.

Which will be the biggest challenge for the Fadnavis government? While choosing an answer from the multiple choices, 31 per cent respondents chose job growth. A majority among the respondents is the young
generation.

Infrastructure development and pending projects are important for 20 per cent respondents after job growth.

Infrastructure development and job growth have been highlighted in all past opinion polls conducted by Sakal Media Group in the past three years.

Among other challenges before the State government in the next two years would be differences among the coalition partners, transparency in governance, law and order, quota demands by various communities, issues of growing cities and the government’s hold over the administration.

27 per cent respondents stated that the Rs 34,000-crore farm loan waiver would render the biggest benefit to the people.

24 per cent respondents see long-term positive effect of expanding the scope of the Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Scholarship, which would now be extended to all economically backward students from all categories.
Following these two decisions, the respondents have preferred the decision of the direct election of sarpanch by voters.

Though 51 per cent respondents have replied positively to a question on the fulfilling of the promises made by the BJP ahead of the assembly polls three years ago, 53 per cent expressed the view that there is still scope for improvement in the functioning of the Fadnavis government.

In all, 50 per cent respondents see the BJP’s success in the local-self government elections in the past one year as the success of the Fadnavis government. 56 per cent have expressed dissatisfaction about the performance of the opposition parties.

The number of youths among the respondents is very high.

Though the BJP and the Shiv Sena would be preferred equally in the event of a snap poll in the State, the urban voter leans more towards the BJP.

The Congress and the NCP have been preferred by 25 per cent and 23 per cent respondents, respectively. However, the NCP has a better support in rural areas.
