

Shirwal, 11th August 2026: Four young men from the Maval and Talegaon Dabhade areas were killed and two others were seriously injured after their car collided with an Eicher truck near Shirwal on the Pune-Satara Highway early Tuesday morning.
The accident took place around 1.15 am near Hotel Shivalay in Shirwal. The Tata Nexon was travelling towards Satara when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The car crossed the road divider and entered the opposite lane, where it crashed into an Eicher truck.
The impact was severe, leaving four occupants dead on the spot. The deceased have been identified as Vedant Waringe, Sonling Thakur, Aditya Garud and Nikhil Raut.
Two other people travelling in the car sustained serious injuries and were shifted to a hospital for treatment. Their condition is being monitored by doctors.
Following the accident, the highway police reached the spot and carried out the rescue and removal operation. A crane was used to clear the damaged vehicle and restore traffic movement on the highway.
The incident has been registered at Shirwal Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
