Chandrapur: Investigations into the death of Dr Sheetal Amte, internationally acclaimed social worker Baba Amte's granddaughter, who was also the CEO of Maharogi Seva Samiti, are at a crucial juncture. Police have refused to rule out a homicide angle in this case and are awaiting forensic reports for further conclusive leads.

Police have also recorded statements of 16 people from Anandvan.
Initial reports suggested that Dr Sheetal Amte's death could be of a suicide, but several items recovered from the crime spot have led the police to investigate other possibilities too.
For this, the police recorded the statements of 16 people from Anandvan to know who met Sheetal before she ended her life. Police are trying to ascertain what happened during the interaction between Dr Sheetal and them.
Meanwhile, police also revealed that Dr. Sheetal was suffering from mental stress and continue to dig deeper into the cause for the same.
A forensic team from Nagpur inspected and collected some items and evidence and sent it for examination. The reports are expected to arrive on Monday. After receiving the forensic report, police can ascertain the exact cause of death of Dr Sheetal. The cyber cell experts in Nagpur failed to crack the password of Sheetal Amte's laptop, cell phones and tab. The devices are now sent to Mumbai Cyber Cell for further investigation.
