Vidhan Sabha 2019: 333 candidates in fray in Mumbai

MUMBAI: In Mumbai 333 candidates are in the fray for 36 Assembly seats, where 244 are from Mumbai Suburbs (26 seats) and  89 (10 seats) are from Mumbai city. 

The most number of candidates is 15 contesting from Anushakti Nagar. 

Seweri and Mahim constituencies have only four candidates each.

The Assembly elections in Maharashtra are scheduled for October 21 while  the results for the same will be declared on October 24. Candidates from various  political parties and in independent capacity have filed their nomination.

Mumbai District Collector Shivaji Jondhale said that at least 11 candidates are contesting for Dharavi and Sion Koliwada Assembly seats while six candidates will face off on Wadala seat, four candidates from Mahim and Seweri each and 13 from Worli.

Suburban Collector Milind Borikar said, “There are not more than 15 candidates in each constituency, so we will not need more than one EVM. There is space for 15 candidates in one machine, while the sixteenth slot will be reserved for NOTA. In Borivali and Bandra West, there are only four candidates in the race, while the highest number of candidates (15) is in Chandivli and Anushakti Nagar.”
