Welcome Summer: Mercury soars as Pune, Mumbai reports rise in temperature

Pune: Mercury is likely to rise in coming days as we step in month of March with temperature around Pune city from last two days is hovering around 35-36 degree Celsius.

Scorching summer heat is showing an inclining graph over the multiple districts of Maharashtra including Pune and Mumbai. Almost the entire state may reel under the hot weather with mercury levels soaring. With the winter season on the verge to get ended in Maharashtra, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated at a steady rise in both day and night climate here onwards.

The day temperature over the Pune city touched 36 degree Celsius on Monday. Mumbai (34 degree Celsius) too witnessed a warm Monday as the maximum temperature increased owing to hot and dry northerly winds. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted hotter days ahead.

KS Hosalikar, Head SID, Climate Research & Services, Pune on his Twitter handle said, "During upcoming hot weather season; March-May, Above Normal Seasonal Max & Min temperatures r likely over western parts of central India including Konkan Region of Maharashtra."

The day temperature was 35 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature was around 13 degree Celsius on Tuesday.

As per the weather forecasting department, temperature in Pune city will continue to remain hovering between 34-36 degree Celsius. Amid the cloudy weather conditions in some part of the day, the day temperature may be warmer.
