Pune, 17 June 2025: Alandi and Dehu Wari are two of the most significant pilgrimage processions in Maharashtra, deeply rooted in the Warkari tradition. Every year, lakhs of Warkaris join these Palkhi processions, carrying the sacred Padukas (footwear) of Sant Dnyaneshwar from Alandi and Sant Tukaram from Dehu to Pandharpur, the abode of Lord Vithoba.

The Wari begins about 18–21 days before Ashadhi Ekadashi and covers hundreds of kilometres on foot, fostering devotion, equality, and community spirit. Started in the 17th century, the Palkhi tradition symbolizes collective faith and social harmony.
