Pune: MahaRERA has announced that, starting this month, open sessions to help developers register their new housing projects will no longer be limited to its Mumbai headquarters but will now be held in Pune and Nagpur as well. The first such session is scheduled to take place in Nagpur on January 22.
Developers often face challenges during the housing project registration process with MahaRERA due to lack of sufficient information, even though they can seek help from experts from self-regulatory organizations.
To address this, MahaRERA has been holding weekly open sessions at its Mumbai headquarters where senior officials try to resolve queries related to registration.
Developers in Pune and Nagpur had requested similar sessions in their cities, and in response, MahaRERA has decided to hold these sessions once a month in both cities. The sessions will be attended by officials from the judicial, financial, and technical departments of MahaRERA's headquarters.
This move comes after MahaRERA's decision to ease the criteria for setting up self-regulatory organizations for developers outside the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The required number of projects has been reduced from 500 to 200, providing further relief to developers in Maharashtra.
A housing project cannot be marketed or sold unless it is properly registered with MahaRERA. Developers must ensure that the documents submitted for registration are accurate and free from discrepancies. By presenting all required documents, developers can expect to receive their registration numbers quickly.
MahaRERA Chairman Manoj Saunik explained that proper registration with MahaRERA is mandatory before any housing project can be advertised or sold. To facilitate this process, MahaRERA has outlined clear legal, financial, and technical criteria for housing project registration.
The open sessions, which will be held once a month in Pune and Nagpur starting this month, aim to help developers by resolving any issues directly with the relevant officials. MahaRERA is committed to assisting developers throughout the registration process, and if developers submit complete and accurate documents, they can expect to receive their registration numbers promptly.
