Pune: The Maratha Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Agriculture (MCCIA) has released the results of its latest survey, projecting positive growth trends in Pune’s industrial sector for the financial year 2024-2025.

Conducted in November 2024, the survey involved 108 companies and assessed their expectations compared to the previous year.

The survey indicates that 81% of participants expect growth in their industries, while 9% foresee a decline in turnover. Another 9% anticipate no significant changes. The survey, which will be conducted monthly until March 2025, aims to track the district's industrial progress.

Key Insights from the Survey

Growth Projections: Of the participating companies, 37% anticipate a revenue increase of 20% or more. Notably, the defense and electronics manufacturing sectors have emerged as key contributors to growth.

Company Segmentation: Among the participants, large companies constituted 5% (with turnovers exceeding ₹250 crore), medium companies accounted for 9%, small companies represented 30%, and micro-companies made up 56%.

Anticipated Growth:

  • 10 companies expect losses.

  • 10 companies predict slight growth.

  • 20 companies estimate 1-10% growth.

  • 28 companies anticipate 10-20% growth.

  • 40 companies project over 20% growth.

Post-COVID Recovery

This survey builds on MCCIA’s earlier monthly surveys, which highlighted the impact of COVID-19 on industries. By the end of those surveys, it was observed that most industries in Pune had returned to their pre-COVID turnover levels.

Prashant Girbane, Director General of MCCIA, noted, "The survey reflects positive sentiments among companies regarding industrial growth. The defense sector, in particular, has benefited greatly from indigenization initiatives. These surveys will continue monthly to provide a comprehensive understanding of industrial trends."
