MPSC Exam Scam: Court Rejects Bail Plea of Four Accused in Paper Leak Case

Pune: A Pune court has denied bail to four accused involved in an alleged scam related to the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) preliminary examination. The accused were allegedly demanding ₹35 to ₹40 lakh from candidates in exchange for leaked MPSC question papers. The Judicial Magistrate (First Class) S. H. Wankhede ruled against their bail applications, citing the serious nature of the offense.

The Accused Individuals

The four accused, whose bail applications were rejected, have been identified as:

  • Deepak Dayaram Gaydhane (26), resident of Nanekarwadi, Chakan; originally from Tamsawadi, Bhandara

  • Sumit Kailash Jadhav (23), resident of Ranobai Mala, Chakan; originally from Wehegaon, Nashik

  • Yogesh Surendra Waghmare (27), resident of Sonuli Varthi, Bhandara

  • Deepak Yashwant Sakre (27), resident of Gav Tekdi, Madhya Pradesh

Prosecution's Argument Against Bail

The accused had filed for bail, but the prosecution strongly opposed their release. Assistant Public Prosecutor Neelima Yadav-Ithape argued that the crime was of a serious nature, as it involved attempts to disrupt the examination process and financially exploit students.

She further stated that their actions had created confusion among MPSC aspirants and their parents before the exam. The prosecution raised concerns that if granted bail, the accused might:

  • Evade further investigation

  • Pressure witnesses

  • Tamper with or destroy crucial evidence

After considering the seriousness of the offense and the prosecution’s concerns, the court ruled against granting bail to the four accused.
