Pune: The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has taken a significant step by initiating the 137-kilometer-long Pune Ring Road project. To ensure systematic planning and development in areas surrounding the ring road, the state government has designated MSRDC as the Special Planning Authority (SPA) for 117 villages across Haveli, Bhor, Purandar, Mulshi, and Velhe talukas.
In a recent announcement, MSRDC revealed its plan to draft a comprehensive development plan (DP) for these villages. This DP, which will cover approximately 668 square kilometers, is expected to be completed within eight months.
MSRDC has already commenced land acquisition for the ring road and intends to establish two key development hubs along the corridor. These hubs will focus on infrastructure growth and urban development in the surrounding areas.
The corporation has been assigned additional responsibilities, such as enhancing the economic, social, and cultural landscape of the region, along with promoting tourism. To address financial requirements for land acquisition and project execution, MSRDC will implement innovative funding models. Furthermore, the authority for granting building permissions in these villages will rest with MSRDC.
The development plan will provide a structured framework for transforming the identified villages, facilitating better connectivity, and creating opportunities for sustainable growth.
