
Pune: An unauthorized hookah parlor operating at Sway in Mundhwa was raided by police, leading to the seizure of hookah equipment and flavored tobacco worth ₹7,000. A case has been registered against the hotel owner and manager under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition) Act, 1918.
On receiving information about an illegal hookah parlor, the Crime Branch Unit 5 team acted swiftly. Police personnel Tanaji Deshmukh, while patrolling the Mundhwa area, learned of the unauthorized activity at Sway.
A raid was immediately conducted, during which the team discovered and seized hookah equipment and flavored tobacco from the premises.
Legal Action Taken
A case was registered at Mundhwa Police Station against the hotel owner and manager for violating the Maharashtra Amendment of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, 1918.
The illicit activity not only violated tobacco control laws but also raised concerns about public health and safety.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of senior officers, including Additional Commissioner of Police Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner Nikhil Pingale, and Assistant Commissioner Rajendra Mulik.
The raid team comprised Police Inspector Yuvraj Hande, Assistant Inspector Vijaykumar Shinde, and police personnel Tanaji Deshmukh, Pramod Tilekar, Prithviraj Pandule, Shubhangi Mhalshikar, and Sanjaykumar Dalvi.
