Pune: A 20-year-old man was arrested in Nashik for blackmailing a woman with a secretly recorded private video. The accused threatened to make the video viral if the victim did not pay ₹30,000 and comply with his demand for sexual favors.
The accused, identified as Krishna Sampat Shinde, a resident of Chavan Mala in Nashik Road, secretly recorded the video and created a fake Instagram ID to share it online. He then contacted the victim, threatening her and demanding money to delete the video. The victim lodged a complaint at Wanawadi Police Station in Pune.
Given the gravity of the crime, Police Sub-Inspector Dhanaji Tone swiftly led the investigation. Officers Amol Pilane and Atul Gaikwad utilized technical analysis and social media insights to track the accused's location. The investigation team, with assistance from Nashik Police, apprehended Krishna Shinde.
During questioning, Shinde confessed to recording the video without the victim's consent and using it to extort money, citing financial difficulties as his motive. He also admitted to making the video viral using a fake Instagram ID.
The operation was executed under the supervision of Additional Police Commissioner Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Rajkumar Shinde, Assistant Commissioner of Police Dhanyakumar Godse, Senior Inspector Satyajit Adamane, and Crime Inspector Govind Jadhav.
The investigation team included Police Sub-Inspector Dhanaji Tone and officers Amol Pilane, Atul Gaikwad, Daya Shegar, Mahesh Gadhave, Gopal Madane, Sarfaraz Deshmukh, Amol Gaikwad, Vishnu Sutar, Yatin Bhosale, Sandeep Salve, Somnath Kamble, and Sujata Phulsundar. The accused has been charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Investigations are ongoing.
