Amazon India to expand pantry services to over 300 cities

Amazon India on Tuesday stated that it has decided to expand the services of ‘Amazon Pantry’ to over 300 cities distributed across the country. This will allow users to buy online grocery items from over 300 cities without going out amid the Coronavirus crisis. A spokesperson from Amazon said that the service was previously available to consumers in 110 cities across the country.

With the ongoing tension of the COVID-19 pandemic, online grocery shopping has had a drastic growth. People have used digital platforms to buy essential products while maintaining social distancing norms.

Amit Agarwal, SVP and Country Manager at Amazon India tweeted, “The past few months, we focused our efforts to deliver essentials in more and more pin codes across the country, so that people can stay at home. Today, ‘Amazon Pantry’ has expanded to over 300 cities in India.”

The expansion includes cities like Bareilly, Deogarh, Jammu, Allahabad, Malda, Pathankot, Rajkot, Udaipur, Shimla, Varanasi and Kozhikode, among others, said the official statement by Amazon India.

The statement further said that the pantry has over 3,000 products from more than 200 different brands including staples, personal care, pet food, cooking essentials, baby food, etc. and delivers within 1-2 business days.

Amazon also allows customers to schedule the delivery date of the products in selected cities like Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad.

Saurabh Srivastava, Director of Amazon India – Category Management said, “At Amazon, we are committed to be an ‘everything’ and ‘everyday’ marketplace for our customers and constantly focus on increasing selection, convenience, ease and speed of delivery across the country. With this expansion, customers in more than 300 cities and towns can get access to safe doorstep delivery of grocery essentials."
