Break in Samajwadi Party, Yadav family in UP: Shivpal floats new political outfit

Lucknow,: Sawajwadi Party, which still faces rumblings within the family after the ouster of Mulayam Singh Yadav on January 1, 2017, received a set back when Shivpal Singh Yadav, the warring uncle of party president Akhilesh Yadav announced to set up a new political outfit Samajwadi Secular Morcha.

Shivpal said that the new organisation is not political and that he was forced to set up a separate outfit as he was sidelined in the party. Shivpal is a SP MLA from Jaswantnagar seat in Etawah district.

"My main aim would be to fight for the Samajwadi Party leaders cornered in the present situation and to unite the smaller political parties," he told UNI here on Wednesday.

Claiming that this new Samajwadi Secular Morcha(SSM) would be a new political alternative in UP during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he said that all smaller parties would get united under this new political umbrella.

"I am hurt with my insult in the SP. I am not invited to any meetings. Besides, the insult to the party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav has made the situation more serious for us," he said.

Recently, Mulayam Singh Yadav had lamented that no one is respecting him and they might do so when he dies.

"I call upon all the leaders in the SP to join the new SSM front who are not given any importance in the SP or being ignored," he said, while ruling out any move to join the BJP or a move to support the saffron brigade in future. " It is just a rumour that my new political outfit is just to help the BJP in the elections," he reiterated.

Shivpal Yadav said that he had intensively toured the state and chalked out the organisation at the district and even at the tehsil level. " Everywhere I went, the SP supporters and leaders annoyed with the present leadership gave me a rousing welcome," he said.

The announcement of the new political front came after Mulayam and Shivpal had a long talk here on Tuesday during the meeting of the Lohia Trust.

Meanwhile, SP president Akhilesh Yadav brushed aside the issue and refused to react on the move of his uncle and said , "Don't force me to shift my attention. Our sole agenda till 2019 is to defeat BJP." "With elections 2019 approaching, more things will unfold," Akhilesh even hinted by saying that he could not say if BJP was behind recent development, but the move give enough hint.

The SP president also hit out at the BJP for arresting five social workers on the name of urban Naxalism. " It is unfortunate that those who are trying to voice their opinion are being targeted," he said.
