Farmers' protest: Who is Deep Sidhu, the one who is accused of provoking farmers at Red Fort

Farmers from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh are camping at multiple border of Delhi from November last year, demanding a repeal of the three farm laws and guarantee to the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the crops.

A tractor rally which was organised by several farmers' organisation on January 26 went wild as some farmers with wielding sticks, atop tractors broke barriers and clashed with police. After the clashes, some also entered the Red Fort and climbing atop the flagpole on Republic Day.

One person who was summoned by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) case, actor Deep Sidhu was also seen at the Fort.

Who is Deep Sidhu?

For those who don't know about him, Deep Sidhu borni in 1985 is Punjabi actor from the Muktsar district.

Before winning the Kingfisher Model Hunt Award, he studied practiced law. He made a debut in film Ramta Jogi in 2015 but he received fame in movie titled Jora Das Nambria released in 2018.

The film's sequel Jora Das Numbria-Second Chapter was also released in March last year.

Deep's social media handle is filled with videos on different subjects including-- politics, education and history. The actor was seen attending various meetings during the times when Farm Bill protested started to gather pace.

It was known that he had gone live via Facebook when he stormed Red Fort along with other protesters. "We have only hoisted the Nishan Sahib flag at the Red Fort while exercising our democratic right to protest," Sidhu said in a video.

Meanwhile, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) distanced itself from the actor and accused him of leading the farmers to the fort.
