Former President Pranab Mukherjee on ventilator support after brain clot surgery

Former President Pranab Mukherjee was put on ventilator support on Monday night after he underwent surgery to remove a clot in his brain. Earlier on Monday, the 84-year-old said he had also tested positive for the COVID-19 infection.

The former President had tweeted: "On a visit to the hospital for a separate procedure, I have tested positive for Covid-19 today. I request the people who came in contact with me in the last week, to please self isolate and get tested for Covid-19."

According to sources, he is admitted at the Army’s Research and Referral (R&R) Hospital in Delhi and his condition continues to remain critical. Mukherjee had already undergone a cardiac procedure in 2014. Mukherjee is a senior Congress leader before he was elected as 13th President of India. He served as President from July 2012 to 2017.

Meanwhile, Pranab Mukherjee's son and Congress leader Abhijeet Mukherjee on his Twitter handle said, "I wish my father a speedy recovery! I appeal to all my countrymen to pray for his speedy recovery & good health."
