According to police reports on Wednesday, a 16-year-old girl and her two half-sisters, aged 14 and 12, passed away after reportedly leaping from the ninth floor of a high-rise building in Ghaziabad. Authorities noted that the girls were 'highly addicted' to an online Korean game and were fixated on playing games on their mobile devices.

According to the police, the three individuals resided with their father, who is a forex trader, along with their mothers. They further mentioned that the oldest child was born to the trader's first wife, whereas the other two children were born to his second wife.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the three individuals were with their mothers. After a while, they proceeded to the prayer room and secured it from the inside. Subsequently, they utilized a chair to leap out of the window one after another. They all died instantly. The loud sound of the girls falling alerted the guards and residents on the ground floor, as well as their family members on the ninth floor. The police were notified, and the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination,” stated Assistant Police Commissioner Atul Kumar Singh.

Officials announced their intention to inspect the girls' mobile phones and collect details about the game they were obsessed with. 'The girls wrote several notes in a diary, offering apologies and sketching a crying figure. They were intensely absorbed in the game and thought of themselves not as Indians, but as Koreans. They also portrayed themselves as Korean princesses, inspired by the game,' Singh stated.

They became hooked on an online game that involved completing tasks. This addiction led to a lack of focus on their education, resulting in the 16-year-old still being in the fourth grade. This issue arose following the Covid-19 pandemic, during which they became engrossed in online gaming.

According to the police, the family was aware of the girls' addiction and would take away their mobile phones. However, the girls managed to retrieve them. They shared a daily routine, even accompanying each other to the bathroom. Singh mentioned that their diary, which was left behind, contains extensive information about their lifestyle and their fixation on the task-oriented game.
