A few days following the strangulation of his 24-year-old girlfriend and the subsequent desecration of her body, the suspect, Piyush Dhamnotia, displayed no regret when questioned about his motives for the crime.

Instead, a smile appeared on his face as he told India Today: "Forget everything. What had to happen has happened. What will you do by knowing?"

When pressed further, he offered only a few cold stares and stated that he would reveal all details at the right moment, as he was taken away in a police car from outside a local police station in Indore. During the entire episode, Piyush seemed completely unrepentant.

The incident was uncovered on February 13, when the decaying, unclothed body of the victim was discovered in a rented accommodation in Indore's Dwarkapuri locality. The suspect was apprehended the following day.

The finding occurred after neighbors reported a bad odor, leading the police to investigate. Upon forcing the door open, officers discovered the woman with rope marks evident on her neck.

The two people were said to have been acquainted since their student days and often clashed, primarily due to the woman's wish to marry.

Police reports indicate that the couple often argued about marriage.

On February 10, the suspect reportedly took the woman to his rented place to settle their disputes.

According to the police, the couple had been physically involved, but a disagreement over marriage led to another argument. This conflict intensified into violence, ultimately causing the woman's death.

In the investigation, the suspect disclosed that he had bound the girl's hands and feet and covered her mouth with tape to prevent her from screaming. He then strangled her using a rope.

After the incident, the suspect stayed in the room, drinking alcohol beside the corpse.

He later escaped to Panvel and is accused of using the victim's phone to distribute videos that depicted her negatively.

Police disclosed that what was even more astonishing was that the accused, while in Panvel, used the internet and YouTube to attempt to invoke the spirit of his deceased girlfriend through occult rituals.

An officer mentioned that he looked up information on communicating with spirits online and engaged in tantric rituals, indicating he might have psychological issues.

Authorities stated that digital evidence, call logs, and forensic results are under review as part of the current investigation.
