Padma Awards 2021: Shinzo Abe, SP Balasubramaniam to be awarded Padma Vibhushan

The Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday declared Padma Awards- the awards that include seven Padma Vibhushan Awards, 10 Padma Bhushan and 102 Padma Shri.

The Padma Vibhushan, the country's second highest civilian award, has been conferred on Japan's former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in the public affairs category. The Padma Vibhushan is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service.

Padma Vibhushan Awardee

- Tamil Nadu's veteran musician and singer SP Balasubramaniam

- Indian-American physicist Narinder Singh Kapany

-Famous cardiologist Belle Monappa Hegde

-Indian Islamic scholar and peace activist Maulana Wahiduddin Khan

- Indian archaeologist and Hindutva historical revisionist BB Lal

- Sculptor Sudarshan Sahoo

Padma Bhushan Awardee

- Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi

- Politician and Former Cabinet Minister Ram Vilas Paswan

- Former Chief Minister of Gujarat Keshubhai Patel

- Indian Islamic scholar Kalbe Sadiq

The awards are given across various disciplines art, social work, public affairs, engineering, trade, medicine,education, sports literature and civil service, among others.

The awards are conferred by the President of India at Rashtrapati Bhawan usually around March or April every year.
