The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), has declared its support for the ongoing sit-in led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) over alleged examination irregularities and announced that its delegation will join the demonstration at Jantar Mantar on Sunday.

In a letter to CJP president Abhijit Dipke, SKM stated on Sunday that it was in "full solidarity" with the peaceful democratic protest and with the students, youth, and their families taking part in it.

Amid CJP Protests, Sonam Wangchuk Begins Hunger Strike, Demands Dharmendra Pradhan's Resignation

The farmers' organization announced that its delegation will visit the protest site at 11 a.m. on Sunday to support the demonstrating students and climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who, together with several students, has been on an indefinite hunger strike calling for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The SKM also conveyed its deepest condolences to the students and families impacted by what it termed the Modi government's persistent paper leaks and mishandling of examinations.

The farmers’ organisation stated that its National Council had passed a resolution on June 17 backing the student movement calling for Pradhan’s resignation and denouncing what it described as a prevailing “scam culture” in the education sector under the BJP-led NDA government.

The SKM expressed hope that its delegation’s visit on Sunday would reinforce the democratic movement and pressure the government to enter into substantive dialogue and implement necessary measures, starting with the resignation of the Education Minister.

In its press statement, the SKM urged students, young people, farmers, workers, and ordinary citizens to participate in the protest at Jantar Mantar and back the call for holding the government accountable.

The SKM, an alliance comprising more than three dozen farmers’ organisations—primarily from Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh—spearheaded the sit-in protests at Delhi’s borders against the three central farm laws during 2020-2021.
