Unlock 2.0: Central government announces guidelines, school colleges to remain shut 

Soon after the Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu governments extended the lockdown in their respective states till July 31, the Central government has announced the guidelines for Unlock 2.0. 

The lockdown in the containment zones will continue. Schools, colleges, academic /educational institutions, gyms, cinema halls, religious places, international air travel and metro services will be remind closed till the end of July.

The decision is targeting the containment area, which will be demarcated by the District authorities after taking into consideration the guideline of the ministry of health and family welfare with the objective of effectively breaking the chain of transmission.

The restrictions are mandatory to be followed due to the alarmingly increasing coronavirus cases in India. Such lockdown will help to curb the virus and break the rapid spread of the pandemic.

The unlock 2.0 guidelines came up on Monday late evening by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Union Secretary and the Chairman of National Executive Committee.

Thus, the closure of academic institutions has lead to parting in education via online/distance learning programs.

The individuals are strictly prohibited to roam between 10 pm to 5 am. Only people who come under essential services can operate.

In the containment zones, only essential activities will be permitted. There will be strict perimeter control to ensure that there is no movement of people in and out of these zones except the medical emergencies. The Containment zones will be having intensive contact tracing, house to house surveillance and other clinical interventions.

The guidelines further talks about, no restrictions on the inter-state and intra-state movement of people and goods, including those for cross land-border trade under treaties with neighbouring countries as well as no separate permission/approval/ e-permit will be required.

The restrictions of pregnant women children below 10 age and senior citizens above 65 age are advised to be at home except for health and essential services.

They have stressed on the usage of Aarogya Setu app.
