Pune: In a move to facilitate New Year celebrations, the Pune District Collector has permitted restaurants, bars, and party venues in the city to remain open until 5 AM on two specific days—Wednesday, December 25, and Tuesday, December 31. However, liquor sales will be allowed only until 1 AM on these days.

The state government had earlier granted approval for extended celebrations until 5 AM for both Christmas and New Year, prompting the District Collector to issue the directives for Pune. Accordingly, citizens can enjoy New Year parties and events until the early hours of the morning.

These requests have been granted with the condition that the permissions are valid only for one day. Pune has nearly 3,000 liquor shops catering to the festive demand.
