Pune: Prominent industrialist Vijay Baburao Pusalkar, aged 80, passed away on Saturday night (June 15) due to a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter, and grandchildren.

Pusalkar began his illustrious career with Cummins India Limited. Through innovation and dedication, he founded Indo Schottle Auto Parts Pvt. Ltd. and Pusalkar Su-Rak-Sha Components Pvt. Ltd.

He also served as the Managing Director of one of the Kirloskar Group Companies and was a trustee for several organizations, including the Vidyarthi Sahayyak Samiti. He was instrumental in establishing schools for girls and supporting numerous educational institutions.

An alumnus of BMCC College and a post-graduate from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi, Pusalkar's contributions to industry and society were extensive. His philanthropic efforts supported Mangeshkar Hospital, the Cochlear Implant Centre, orphanages, and the Pune City Police Welfare Fund. His support extended to Mount Everest expeditions and various other causes.

In 1986, Pusalkar brought German technology to India, enhancing the company's manufacturing capabilities for engine valve collets. His visionary leadership and commitment to excellence have been a driving force behind the success of Indo Schottle and Pusalkar Su-Rak-Sha.

Pusalkar was also a sports enthusiast and actively involved in social activities. He was associated with Nutan Bal Shikshan Sangha (Pune), Rukmini Pusalkar Vidyalaya (Karnataka), and Vidyarthi Sahayak Samiti (Pune). His contributions were recognized with the prestigious Life Time Achievement Award from TIE (The Indus Entrepreneurs), Hubli, in 2017-18.
