In the early hours of May 7, 2025, India launched Operation Sindoor-a meticulously coordinated military response to the brutal Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians, including one Nepali national. In just 25 minutes, Indian armed forces struck nine high-value terror targets across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), dealing a decisive blow to the infrastructure of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM)

The operation began at 1:44 am, with simultaneous missile and drone strikes led by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. The mission was monitored throughout the night by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Only terror camps and infrastructure were targeted, with no Pakistani military or civilian facilities hit. The Ministry of Defence emphasized the operation’s “focused, measured, and non-escalatory” nature. The strikes featured precision-guided munitions and kamikaze drones, maximizing impact while minimizing collateral damage

India’s intelligence identified and hit the following terror hubs:

  1. Markaz Subhan Allah, Bahawalpur – JeM

  2. Markaz Taiba, Muridke – LeT

  3. Sarjal, Tehra Kalan – JeM

  4. Mehmoona Joya, Sialkot – HM

  5. Markaz Ahle Hadith, Barnala – LeT

  6. Markaz Abbas, Kotli – JeM

  7. Maskar Raheel Shahid, Kotli – HM

  8. Shawai Nalla Camp, Muzaffarabad – LeT

  9. Syedna Bilal Camp, Muzaffarabad – JeM

These sites were chosen for their direct involvement in planning and executing attacks against India, including the recent Pahalgam massacre.

More than 80 terrorists were killed and over 60 wounded in the strikes, significantly degrading the operational capabilities of LeT, JeM, and HM. According to government sources, civilian casualties were minimized due to the precision of the strikes. Pakistan confirmed at least nine civilian deaths and 38 injuries, with two missing.  Immediately after the strikes, Pakistan initiated heavy firing across the Line of Control and cleared its airspace, signaling high alert and vowing retaliation.

Operation Sindoor was India’s direct response to Pakistan’s failure to act against terror groups operating from its soil, despite credible evidence linking them to the Pahalgam attack. The Indian government stressed that the operation was a “measured, responsible, and non-escalatory” action focused solely on terror infrastructure.
