Pune, 4th December 2024: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is set to take action against 2,683 properties with outstanding dues totaling ₹200 crore.

These properties, with arrears exceeding ₹3 lakh each, include residential, industrial, and commercial establishments. The seizure process is expected to begin soon.

The city has 6,33,294 registered properties under PCMC's tax assessment and collection department. Of these, 5,41,168 are residential, 57,733 are non-residential, 4,563 are industrial, 11,232 are vacant plots, and 16,001 are mixed-use properties.

In the first nine months of the current fiscal year, PCMC collected ₹550 crore in property taxes, including ₹362.74 crore through online payments, ₹42 crore via RTGS and NEFT, ₹41.66 crore in cash, and ₹37.97 crore through cheques.

Despite this, the collection has fallen short by ₹83 crore compared to the same period last year, when ₹633 crore was collected. The shortfall is attributed to the deployment of tax department staff for Lok Sabha and Assembly election duties, which disrupted regular tax collection activities.

PCMC has identified 1,651 properties with dues over ₹3 lakh and 1,032 properties with arrears exceeding ₹5 lakh.

The process of seizing these properties is underway, and the auction of 43 previously seized properties is nearing completion, according to Avinash Shinde, Assistant Commissioner of the Tax Assessment and Collection Department.
