GBS Outbreak Worsens in Pune: 56-Year-Old Woman Dies at Sassoon Hospital

Following the latest fatality, questions have been raised about whether there was any negligence in treatment. In response, Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital has formed a committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the patient’s death.

With the number of GBS cases on the rise, the Maharashtra health department has taken the situation seriously and issued strict guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. These include protocols for patient care, treatment procedures, and ensuring the availability of necessary medications. Health officials have directed all districts to adhere to these guidelines to contain the outbreak.

Maharashtra Health Secretary Nipun Vinayak recently conducted a review meeting at the National Institute of Virology in Pune to assess the situation. He also visited Aundh District Hospital and Sassoon General Hospital to examine the ongoing treatment of GBS patients and ensure adequate availability of medicines.
