The racket primarily operated in the Dighi, Alandi, and Charholi areas. The fraudulent activities spanned from 2021 to November 2024 under the jurisdiction of Tata Communications, previously part of Videsh Sanchar Nigam.

Police official Pundalik Patil filed a complaint at the Dighi Police Station, leading to cases against Bansode, Rokade, and others involved in creating and distributing the forged documents.

According to police sources, the accused used counterfeit residency proofs and enlisted the help of unknown individuals to fabricate the documents. The certificates were designed to appear authentic and deceive officials.

Police Sub-Inspector Katpale is leading the ongoing investigation to uncover the full extent of the operation and identify additional suspects.
