Pune: A disturbing incident has surfaced in Pimpri-Chinchwad, where a 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 22-year-old man during a "Truth or Dare" game played under the influence of alcohol. The assault came to light when the victim’s phone, left active during the incident, allowed her boyfriend to overhear and alert her parents.
The 17-year-old victim, a student residing in Pimpri to prepare for the NEET exams, had allowed a female friend she had met through Instagram five years ago to stay at her rented apartment for a night. On Tuesday (January 21), the female friend received a call from a male acquaintance and left for his flat in Ravet, where he and two other men were drinking.
Later that night, concerned about her friend’s safety, the victim called and urged her to return home. However, the intoxicated woman insisted the victim come to the flat instead. Two men went to pick up the victim and brought her to the flat.
Once at the flat, the group of five consumed alcohol. Under the influence, they decided to play "Truth or Dare," a game where losing players must perform tasks assigned to them. During the game, the victim’s female friend lost.
Shortly after, the female friend began vomiting, and two men escorted her to the bathroom. Meanwhile, the victim went to another bathroom, where one of the men allegedly followed her and committed the sexual assault.
The victim’s phone remained active during the incident, inadvertently connecting to her boyfriend, who overheard what transpired. He immediately informed her parents, who tracked her location and confronted her.
After learning about the incident, the parents accompanied the victim to the Pimpri police station. The case was then transferred to the Ravet police station for further investigation.
Two suspects have been detained by the police, while the main accused remains absconding. Authorities are conducting a search operation to apprehend the suspect.
