Pune: The Wakad Police Station in Pimpri-Chinchwad has successfully recovered and returned 120 stolen and lost mobile phones to their rightful owners. The operation, which involved tracing phones across multiple states, has been widely appreciated by the public.
The recovered mobile phones, collectively valued at ₹20 lakh, were stolen or lost within the jurisdiction of Wakad Police Station. Utilizing technical investigations and tracking systems, the police traced the devices to states such as Bihar, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Madhya Pradesh.
Some of the stolen phones were found active in these states and had been sold to unsuspecting buyers. The police contacted these individuals and, through legal measures, managed to retrieve the devices.
In today’s world, mobile phones are indispensable tools for communication and productivity. Losing them can lead to significant distress, and recovering a lost or stolen device often feels like a stroke of luck. The Wakad Police’s effort to return these devices has been praised by the community, with several owners expressing heartfelt gratitude.
One of the beneficiaries remarked, “Getting back a lost phone feels like a miracle. The police have done an exceptional job.” Another urged citizens to remain vigilant to avoid such thefts, appreciating the hard work put in by the law enforcement team.
The operation was conducted under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner of Police Vishal Gaikwad, Assistant Commissioner of Police Sunil Kurade, and Police Inspector Nivrutti Kolhatkar. Their team meticulously traced and retrieved the stolen phones, ensuring they were returned to their original owners.
