Pune: The Central Railway has implemented a temporary ban on platform ticket sales at major stations, including Mumbai and Pune, from December 2 to December 9.
This measure has been taken to manage the anticipated large crowds gathering to observe Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar's Mahaparinirvan Day.
The Railway Administration has identified key stations across divisions where this restriction will be in place to reduce congestion. These include:
Mumbai Division: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar, Thane, and Kalyan
Pune Division: Pune
Bhusawal Division: Badnera, Akola, Nandura, Murtijapur, Shegaon, Malkapur, Bhusawal, Jalgaon, Pachora, Chalisgaon, Manmad, and Nashik
Nagpur Division: Nagpur and Wardha
Solapur Division: Solapur
The decision aims to ensure smoother operations and ease of travel for commuters. However, exceptions have been made for senior citizens and passengers with medical needs, allowing them access to platform facilities during this period.
The temporary ban reflects the Railway Administration’s proactive steps to manage crowd control and enhance safety during high-traffic occasions.
