PMC Demolishes 20 Illegal Shops at JM Corner, Clears 3000 Sq Ft Area

Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has taken action against 20 unauthorized shops operating at the JM Corner food court on Jangli Maharaj Road, where a petrol pump once stood. The demolition has cleared an area of 3,000 square feet.

A month ago, following a Porsche accident case in Kalyaninagar, the PMC launched a crackdown on rooftop hotels, restaurants, and unauthorized pubs in the city.

During this operation, action was taken against approximately 144 establishments. Although the crackdown had slowed down, recent incidents, including a party at L3 Pub that lasted until dawn and involved drug use, prompted strict orders from the Chief Minister for continued enforcement.

At JM Corner, the unauthorized shops included small snack vendors and restaurants. The PMC’s construction department carried out the demolition using JCB machines, two gas cutters, and laborers.

Notices were issued to the shop owners 15 days prior to the action. Sunil Kadam from the PMC’s construction department confirmed the details, stating that the operation successfully cleared 3,400 square feet of space.
