Santosh Jagdale from Pune was killed in a terror attack at Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir.
His daughter, Asavari Jagdale, has requested a government job under compassionate grounds.
Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has recommended her appointment for a Class II or Class III post, forwarding the proposal to the state government.
Pune, 26 August 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has forwarded a proposal to the state’s Urban Development Department regarding a job request made by Asavari Jagdale, daughter of the late Santosh Eknath Jagdale. Santosh, a resident of Pune, was among the victims killed in a terrorist attack at Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, where 26 people lost their lives.
After the tragedy, Asavari sought a compassionate appointment in PMC. Her initial application did not mention a specific post, but later she requested an Assistant Commissioner’s position, which is a Class I post.
PMC reviewed her educational qualifications under the 2014 recruitment rules. Based on this assessment, officials concluded that she is eligible for positions such as Administrative Officer (Class II), Deputy Superintendent (Class III), Computer Operator (Class III), or Clerk-Typist (Class III).
The matter gained wider attention after Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Dr. Neelam Gorhe supported Asavari’s request and recommended her case to Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Responding to this, Shinde directed the municipal commissioner to take necessary action.
Now, PMC has formally sent a report and recommendation to the Urban Development Department, suggesting that Asavari be appointed to one of the posts for which she qualifies. The final decision on her appointment will be taken by the state government.
