Pune: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has initiated steps to enhance the safety of passengers by installing CCTV cameras in its buses.
In the first phase, 1,006 PMPML-owned buses will be equipped with three cameras each. The tendering process is currently underway, and the installation is expected to be completed within two months.
The PMPML fleet consists of 2,100 buses, of which 1,650 are operational on city roads daily. Of these, 1,006 are owned by PMPML, while the remaining buses are leased.
For the first time, PMPML is installing CCTV cameras in its own buses. Approximately 13 lakh passengers use PMPML buses daily, and with this initiative, surveillance will cover about 9 lakh passengers.
Key Benefits of CCTV Installation
