Pune: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has initiated action against officials who remained in the authority beyond their deputation period. Two officers—an Assistant Town Planner and a Junior Draftsman—who were originally deputed from the Town Planning Department for three years, have now been sent back to their parent department following orders from the Commissioner.
Since its establishment, PMRDA has filled key positions by deputing officers from various departments such as Town Planning, Revenue, and Accounts. The Development Permission Branch within PMRDA has been a sought-after assignment for many officials.
As part of this arrangement, an Assistant Town Planner and a Junior Draftsman joined PMRDA on a three-year deputation. However, these officers remained in the authority for eight years, far exceeding their original tenure.
Several citizens filed complaints against these officials, alleging irregularities in their continued tenure at PMRDA. Upon reviewing the matter, the PMRDA Commissioner discovered that the officers had overstayed their deputation period.
Following this investigation, the Commissioner ordered their repatriation to the Town Planning Department, marking a strict stance on deputation policies and overstaying officers.
