Property Registration in Maharashtra Gets a Boost with New Sub-Registrar Recruits

Internal examination for new sub-registrars will be conducted in April. After clearing assessment, they will be deployed across various locations to assume full responsibilities.

Pune: The Registration and Stamps Department in Maharashtra is set to speed up document registration processes, reducing wait times for citizens. This development comes after the government filled 126 out of nearly 200 vacant sub-registrar positions last year.

Addressing Long-Standing Vacancies

For several years, over 200 sub-registrar posts in the department remained unfilled, causing delays in document registrations such as sale deeds, agreements, and property valuations. The newly recruited sub-registrars have now completed their training and started working in various sub-registrar offices in the city.

“The new recruits are technically skilled and work with remarkable efficiency. Once fully operational, they will significantly expedite document registration,” said Santosh Hingane, Deputy District Registrar, while speaking with mediapersons.

Streamlining Document Registration

Sub-registrar offices handle a wide range of registrations, including property transactions, lease agreements, development agreements, and mortgages. They are also responsible for evaluating property values to determine applicable stamp duties. This involves meticulous examination of land records, crop patterns, and the location of properties.

The new sub-registrars are currently gaining hands-on experience in these tasks, reviewing daily submissions and learning the intricacies of document evaluation.

Internal Assessment and Future Assignments

An internal examination for the new sub-registrars will be conducted in April. After clearing this assessment, they will be deployed across various locations in the state to assume full responsibilities.

“Our training over the past three months has equipped us to handle tasks efficiently. We’ve learned to examine documents, evaluate properties accurately, and communicate effectively with citizens,” said trainee sub-registrar Aarti Nagargoje while speaking with mediapersons.

The department expects the enhanced workforce to reduce delays, benefiting citizens and ensuring accuracy in property registrations. The integration of trained sub-registrars is anticipated to significantly improve the department's overall efficiency.
