Pune: The Tax Assessment and Collection Department of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has intensified its actions against property tax defaulters, particularly those owing more than ₹1 lakh. Non-residential, industrial, and mixed-use properties are being prioritized for seizure to recover outstanding dues.
Enforcement Actions and Recoveries
A detailed list of defaulters has been prepared by the department and circulated to regional offices for immediate action. Properties with unpaid dues will face stringent measures, including seizure and public announcements through band processions. The department has also planned to publish these lists in newspapers to ensure wider awareness.
Total Properties Seized: 418
Total Outstanding Amount: ₹11.37 crore
Recovered During Drives: ₹26.92 crore from 1,511 defaulters
Categories of Defaulters
The targeted defaulters include:
Private institutions and schools
Hotels and private hospitals
Petrol pumps and industrial factories
Showrooms, banquet halls, banks, malls, and cinemas
Pradeep Jambhale Patil, Additional Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation, stated: “We have repeatedly urged defaulters to clear their dues. Strict actions, including property seizures, are now underway against those with unpaid dues exceeding ₹1 lakh. Property owners are advised to settle their dues immediately to avoid such measures.”
Avinash Shinde, Assistant Commissioner of the Tax Department, emphasized: “Notices have been issued to establishments such as hotels, malls, petrol pumps, and private hospitals with arrears over ₹1 lakh. Property owners must ensure payment to avoid disruptions. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation will not be responsible if operations at the seized establishments are halted.”

Despite repeated appeals, many property owners have failed to pay overdue taxes, prompting the department to take decisive action. Property owners are encouraged to make immediate payments to avoid disruptions and penalties.
