Pune: The Singhgad Road Police have registered a case against four women involved in prostitution at the Navale Bridge area on the Mumbai-Bengaluru bypass highway. The incident comes after a previous police action in the same area two months ago, following complaints from local residents about the continuation of prostitution.
Residents of the Navale Bridge area had been raising concerns about women standing on the street and engaging in prostitution for several months. These women had reportedly been obstructing traffic and making obscene gestures in public, which was causing discomfort to local women and young girls. Local residents had requested the police to take action, which led to an operation by the police two months ago.
In response to earlier complaints, the police had arrested eight women engaged in sex work in the area and filed cases against them. After the operation, the women had reportedly stopped their activities in the area. However, recently, complaints emerged again regarding women engaging in prostitution and making obscene gestures near the service road next to the Navle Bridge.
Recent Complaints and Investigation
Following these complaints, the Singhgad Road police filed a case and began investigating the matter once again. Police Sub-Inspector Suresh Jaibhaye is handling the investigation and further action will be determined based on the findings.
The repeated incidents of prostitution and public nuisance have raised concerns about the need for continued police vigilance and action in the area.
