Pune, 28 July 2025: Pune city has recorded 357.9 mm rainfall so far this monsoon season, exceeding the expected rainfall for this period by 12%. According to the latest rainfall data released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Pune has already received 112.2% of the rainfall it usually gets from June till now.

The city witnessed a strong start to the monsoon in June, receiving 225.6 mm of rainfall, almost 148% of the tehsil’s average for the month. However, the rainfall trend dipped in July, with only 132.3 mm recorded so far, which is just under 80% of the monthly normal.

Despite this slowdown, the overall rainfall from June onwards remains healthy. Pune’s seasonal monsoon average (June–September) is 605.5 mm, and the city has already received nearly 60% of it by the end of July.

Compared to last year, the rainfall till this date was higher, 549.3 mm, or 172.1% of the expected amount. This year’s figures show that while monsoon activity is active, it’s not as intense as 2024.

While Pune city remains relatively stable, nearby areas like Maval-Wadgaon (228.5% of normal), Bhor (139.3%), and Mulshi Paud (110.4%) have seen very heavy rainfall this season, raising concerns about flooding and runoff in those regions.
