Pune Airport has received approval for 15 new flight slots.
These slots are expected to be operational soon.

Pune, 17 July 2025: Pune Airport will soon see the addition of 15 new flight slots, with new routes currently under finalization. The move is expected to boost the number of daily flights and enhance connectivity to more cities. This comes amid rising passenger demand and limited capacity at the airport, which also serves as an Air Force base.
At present, the airport offers flights to 37 destinations. Expanding flight operations at Pune has been a long-standing challenge due to its shared military usage. However, after sustained efforts by Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol, the approval for 15 additional slots was secured about six weeks ago.
Despite the approval, these slots are yet to be put to use, as discussions around route selection are still underway. Once finalised, new flights from Pune are expected to begin operating on these routes, offering passengers more travel options.
Currently, the airport handles approximately 35,000 passengers daily across nearly 200 flights. With growing demand for better connectivity, the addition of new routes is seen as a timely upgrade.
Routes such as Nagpur, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad already see high traffic, and airlines are now exploring ways to increase flight frequency on these sectors while considering connections to new cities as well.
Minister Murlidhar Mohol stated that the route decisions will be made soon, and services will begin shortly thereafter. The increased slot capacity is expected to significantly improve convenience for travellers flying in and out of Pune.
